The opinion piece, "Exactly What is Trumpism?", by David Hanson analyzes Trump's rise to popularity and why he connects so well with the White American middle class. Hanson argues that Trump is completely transparent to his followers, which makes him a better fit for President that politicians who are hypocritical of their views. Whereas Al Gore preaches the horrible effects of Global Warming, he still pollutes the air with a private jet, Donald Trump practices what he preaches.

Although it is true that Donald Trump may be less hypocritical in his views that some other elite Americans, this is no argument for his presidency. His views are extremely racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and Islamophobic to name a few.

Hanson also argues that Trump's choice to ignore politically correct terms and progressive actions is his way of bringing the country back to "normal." He says that trump is 'old school' and that he simply wants America to go back to the way it was when his parents were young.

The Author enables Trump's insensitive vernacular by brushing it off as a return to "normal." He allows the idea that people of color and women being empowered is not normal and wants to return us to the life of the oppressed.
